It's an intriguing concept, for various reasons.
One such reason is merely the romanticism of fantasy.
Make yourself up.
Polarize yourself.
Skew the colors. Skew your positives & negatives.
Become.Anyone.You.Want.
And then there is the aspect of cowardice.
You need not take responsibility
when you can say you were only playing a role.
No repercussions.
No guilt.
Hide in a shell of your own mind.
Present yourself as strong and unfazed.
Scream obscenities.
Jump off a cliff.
Slam your car into a wall.
Nothing.Can.Touch.You.When.You're.Not.You.
It also gives one depth,
There is a fucked-up postmodern disenchanting quality
with casting aside your skin.
Taking on a new persona.
Don't you want to talk to that person
who is not really a person,
more of a character, really?
Much more interesting than
the solitary pifalls of a modern existence.
Be a count.
Be a vampire.
Be a fucking superhero.
